Mentoring Kids Ages 9-15

Mentors provide younger children in foster care with memorable experiences alongside a steady, stable role model.

Think back. Did you have someone cheering your soccer goals? Someone to share the anticipation of the latest Harry Potter release or Batman premiere? Did you celebrate a good report card by going out for ice cream?

Many youth in foster care experience such important milestones alone.

A child in foster care, like any child, needs the attention and sympathetic ear of a caring adult. As a mentor, you have the opportunity to create happy memories by going hiking, doing arts and crafts, visiting a favorite restaurant or just hanging out. Mentors motivate children to achieve their personal best by cheering them on and taking pride in their accomplishments. Research shows that 73 percent of youth with mentors are more optimistic about their futures. A mentor can make a huge difference in the life of a child.
