Arizona’s foster care system is overwhelmed by a growing number of children removed from their homes because of abandonment, abuse or neglect. The options for their care haven’t kept pace. Arizona needs foster families.
Children in foster care – already frightened and hurt by the circumstances leading to intervention by the Arizona Department of Child Safety – are confused and often distrustful of adults. Children in foster care need a stable relationship with a caring adult so that healing can begin. Foster families typically serve as a port in a storm, offering safety, comfort and caring in the sometimes choppy journey to family reunification.
AASK programs, the products of decades of experience, give families the training and resources necessary to positively impact the lives of children placed in their home – for however long that may be.
