Cory

Meet Cory!

Fifteen year old Cory is a kind young man with a talent for fixing things. At Golf Land in Mesa, he tests out the Go Karts and wins the race. Though he says he slowed down a couple of times to give others a chance to catch up.

“I did slow down, like three times. I pushed the brake,” admits Cory, allowing others to have a fair chance since he is such a speedy Go Kart racer. Cory is careful and experienced when it comes to racing and learning about cars.

With a little guidance he has practiced on other go karts and off-roading vehicles. “I like to race go karts and stuff. I like quads and road cars. It’s not really on a track or anything, it on a whole field but it’s all dirt. There are hills and dirt ramps and all that, (which) people just made over the years. And they’re really big and fun,” says Cory, describing where he spends some of his free time.

Cory would like to translate his love of cars into a career someday. He says, “I thought about being a mechanic. I can fix things, a lot of different things like RC cars, little engines. I like to fix cars and things.”

Cory is not afraid of the hard work it takes to accomplish any task. He recently helped fix someone’s door, just because he wanted to provide a helping hand. “I put in a security door for this elderly man, my mentor’s neighbor and I got paid for it. I wasn’t expecting it and he gave me some money and I was like, ‘Awww, I don’t know what I’m going to do with this!’ I saved it for a while then I went and spent some of it, and spent some of it on friends and stuff like that. It felt good afterward, I wasn’t expecting it. So I was like, thank you!”

There’s only one thing missing for Cory, and that’s a family to call his own. He says, “It doesn’t matter how many kids there are. Mostly, I would like to do stuff with them and be active.” Cory would do well in a one or two parent home where he would receive attention and care. Most of all, he would like an active family, as he would like to be involved and stay busy in whatever his family enjoys doing.
