Quiet at first, speak with 16-year-old Raneesha for just a few minutes and she starts to open up. Like any teenage girl, she gets giggly when asked questions that make her uncomfortable and gets a big smile on her face when asked about something she enjoys. While getting her picture taken she makes sure the photo is up to her liking: “No, we need to take that again!,” she exclaims.
Raneesha enjoys going on Facebook and watching TV shows such as Pretty Little Liars, Scandal, and Once Upon A Time. Raneesha makes friends easily and enjoys talking with her friends about the future. She loves going to Starbucks and playing card games such as Phase 10.
Raneesha is in 11th grade and enjoys going to school to get a break from home and to see her friends. She proclaims that she does not like the homework part of school and smiles her contagious smile as she describes this part of herself. Raneesha enjoys science as she loves doing experiments and learning through a more hands-on approach.
Raneesha would like to be a doctor when she grows up because “they make a lot of money!” She realizes that she will need to attend school for many more years to achieve her goal and she is fine with that. In addition to the money, Raneesha would like to care for others when she gets older, though she is not sure what kind of doctor she would like to be yet.
Raneesha would love a forever family with one or two parents. Raneesha would do well in a home with no other children, or maybe one younger sibling. She enjoys spending quality time with her caregivers and desires the attention from them. She would like a younger family who will be able to be active with her. “I would want to go out to events with them, chill with them, or have movie nights at home.” Raneesha would like people to know that “she can be shy at first and sometimes she needs her space” like any normal teenage girl. Raneesha describes herself as having a nice smile, being hard working, and focused. Her foster mother describes her as being self-aware, open, and considerate.
