Saying music is an important part of 15 year-old Brianna’s world is an understatement. She is passionate about it, “Music inspires me to do great things. Some songs say to me, it doesn’t matter who you are, it doesn’t matter where you came from or the bad situation you came from. Just come up. Just be happy. Just forget everything and forgive.”
The guitar is Brianna’s absolute favorite instrument, so she was especially excited to get a private guitar lesson with Scottsdale Music Academy owner, John Davis. Throughout the lesson, her face showed a combination of serious concentration to learn new chords and smiling satisfaction in making music. Not only did she have a great time during the lesson, but it inspired her to pursue ongoing guitar lessons.
Will Brianna’s love for music and the guitar guide her future career? If she gets her wish, her absolute dream job is to be a rock star. But if that doesn’t pan out, she has a plan B.
This ninth-grader has a big heart, is positive, and loves to help others. These traits are so much a part of who she is, Brianna could also envision herself in a helping profession, perhaps as a caseworker. She hopes her forever family will support and guide her as she decides the direction of her career and her other life goals.
Currently living in a foster group home, Brianna explains the importance of finding a forever family, “It would mean very much to me. Like getting to have a new start on family and life.” Besides guidance, she dreams of the compassion and care parents would provide. “Whenever I cry, they would be there for me to cry on their shoulders and comfort me and everything.”
Brianna hopes for “a mom and a dad together, and a sister” in her forever family. She looks forward to doing regular activities, like continuing her music lessons. But she also is eager to start making new memories by going on special family outings. “They could take me to some of places where I want to go, like Disneyworld. Also, I like to hike, but only in the day time, not the night time because you do not know what will pop up at you. And my dad could take me fishing,” she said, reminiscing about the great time she had with her grandfather on a past fishing trip. But mostly she just wants “a really nice family.” She smiles widely and assures that in return she would give, “Happiness!”
“Why I want to be adopted is because I want a new family,” she said. “Whenever I cry, they would be there for me to cry on their shoulders and comfort me and everything.”
How intently does Brianna want a new start with a forever family? “I think about it a whole bunch. All the time. It means that much to me.”
